VISION THERAPY IN NORTHERN TENERIFE

Can you train your eyes? Yes. Seeing is something you learn, too.

Personalised behavioural optometry treatments to help children do better at school and to restore visual health in adults.

Does any of this sound familiar in your day-to-day life?

You can see well with your glasses on and still struggle to focus, to coordinate your eyes or to hold your attention while reading.

“My child is doing badly at school, or reads slowly”

They mix up letters, skip lines, lose attention quickly or find it hard to concentrate when studying

“Reading and screens are taking their toll on me”

Your eyes are red and watery, you get headaches and sometimes you cannot see well in the distance

“My daughter’s eye turns, or she struggles to focus”

You notice one eye drifting, that she tilts her head to look at things or pulls odd faces

“Since the accident I don’t see or feel the way I used to”

You feel disorientated, dizzy when walking, or you have lost part of your visual field since the head injury or stroke

WHAT VISION THERAPY IS

Neuro-visual training tailored to every stage of life

Vision therapy is a personalised programme of guided neuro-optometric exercises. It is not about “strengthening the eye muscles”, but about retraining the brain to process and integrate visual information comfortably, accurately and automatically.

How do we approach your case in the clinic?

Children (learning and developmental difficulties)

We assess and treat learning problems that stem from a visual difficulty.

What does our examination for children include?

Visual efficiency analysis

An assessment of focusing, coordination between the two eyes, eye movements and the skills needed to read and learn.

Visual perception assessment

An analysis of how the brain interprets and processes information, to find the cause of slow reading, skipping lines, mixing up letters, fatigue or lack of attention.

Report and action plan

A clear diagnosis setting out whether the case calls for vision therapy, optical correction or other specific measures.

Adults (visual health, rehabilitation or trauma)

We treat problems arising from work or from accidents

What does our full examination for adults include?

Prescription and eye health

An assessment of the quality of your vision, the health of your eyes, focusing, binocular vision and coordination.

Detecting functional problems

Tailored tests to find the cause of blurred vision, eye strain, headaches, double vision or discomfort with screens.

Individual treatment plan

A tailored solution that may include glasses, contact lenses, vision training or a medical referral if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does vision therapy really work?

Yes. Anything with muscles can be trained. It is just like going to the gym, but with your eyes. It is an optometric treatment backed by scientific evidence that trains the brain’s neuroplasticity to improve visual efficiency, coordination and processing.

Do optometrists treat learning problems?

We treat learning problems that have their origin in a visual deficit (reading eye movements, focusing or binocular vision). If the problem is strictly educational or language-related, we work alongside educational specialists and speech and language therapists.

What our patients say

Visual Center Madhu is not just a place where you can find top-quality glasses: if you have vision problems or feel that something is wrong, they have the solution. After visiting the centre and putting myself in Madhu’s hands, I have noticed that my sight has improved; they don’t just diagnose the problem, they also teach you to control your eyes through exercise-based therapy. Highly recommended, and if you want the very latest, they have glasses of every kind, including ones with artificial intelligence.
